How horses benefit business health

Human beings are social animals and when in teams, need to adopt distinct roles to give structure to the group, to help develop and grow. However, humans are made up of a number of complex systems, all unique and dysfunctional. Relationships can succeed, or fail, based on the quality of communication.

Our workplaces become accustomed to degrees and variants of pressure and are not always the ideal environment to relearn new ways to build relationship, to be open to express our requirements and understanding.

In the company of horses, we experience first-hand, calmly and non-judgementally, about the efficacy of our communication. How our beliefs, thoughts, our speech and behaviour affect our ability to influence. The horse is inclined to mirror what’s going on within us, as well as what we’re revealing on the outside.

So, through palpable feedback, we recognise our strengths and weaknesses and can experiment with small self-correction, with the effectiveness of our communication.

Effective communication connects all members of a team and organisation, to achieve the desired outcomes. The ability to listen and embrace different points of view, make optimal decisions to satisfy everyone.

It breeds trust that extends through the team, expectations and responsibilities are better understanding, and engagement is increased to openly and inclusively discuss ways to make improvements and explore growth.

The learning experience helps recognise how to create the right environment with boundary systems; controls and disciplines, to achieve new levels of effective communication, collaboration, and teamwork.

How are our sessions structured?

  • Designed to exhibit the inactions between human and horse, and individuals and group. Each session enables experiential learning and a clear action plan, through ground exercises with the horses and with one another.
  • During debriefing sessions, activities are reviewed in a stimulating group discussion. All insights, outcomes and implications are recorded and challenged to co-create a plan for moving forward. The uniqueness of each program is a result of direct parallels that participants identify for themselves between what happens in the arena and what happens at home or work.
  • If you are looking for a different environment for networking events or team meetings, how about shifting the energy outdoors?

This experience would not involve any close encounters with the horses, unless people wanted that; just holding space for people to shift their state and feel connected to something bigger.
